Zika or Zika Virus Disease is a disease which is caused due to Zika virus which is spread primarily by people with the bite of an infected mosquito of Aedes species. Some of the common symptoms are joint pain, fever, rash and pink eyes (conjunctivitis).

The tragic part of Zika virus is that people won’t even notice that they are infected. But the most common symptoms are rash, fever, conjunctivitis, joint pain etc. Some other symptoms are headache and muscle pain. The incubation period is still unknown but it is likely to be weeks or days.

*Some of the symptoms are identical to that of chikungunya and dengue which spread with same mosquitoes that spread Zika.
*If you have travelled to Zika-affected regions, inform your doctor where and when you visited
They may take blood tests to find out the signs of Zika and other viruses like chikungunya and dengue.
Cure
There is no vaccine that can treat Zika infections and prevent it
You can treat symptoms by doing these common things –
* Drink enough liquids to avoid dehydration
Get a lot of rest
*Take medications as Tylenol, acetaminophen, or paracetamol for pain and fever
*Don’t take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and aspirin
If you take medications for any other condition, ask your doctor before you take extra medicine.

*During the first week, Zika virus is likely to be found in blood and spread from one person to another via mosquito bites. The virus can be passed on to other people by an infected mosquito.
* To keep others from getting ill, prevent mosquitoes in the first week of sickness
